I met an amazing guy and his beautiful family a couple weeks ago. While talking to him, he asked me what was my purpose. Honestly it took me off guard, because I really do not know. I have ideas in what will make myself happy, but what is my bigger purpose to mankind? As I struggled to think of my purpose, I was reminded of a poem I loved as a younger adult. The poem is called “Reason, Season, Lifetime” (unknown author). The first line sets the tone for the rest of the poem… People come into your life for a reason, season, or lifetime. All of us have fallen somewhere in this spectrum of fulfilling our purpose. You do not have to find the cure for cancer or rescue a stranded cat out of a tree. Your reason could be as little as assisting someone through a difficult moment or you might have stuck around for a season to share, grow, and learn with that person. Then you have created relationships with people that you and that person have learned lessons that will last a lifetime. So go out there in this big ol’ world and discover your many moments of purpose.
